Want your own numbers? The Copart calculator shows every fee and your profit as you type.
Open the Copart US fee calculatorA Copart bid is never the final price. Several fees go on top, and on cheaper vehicles they can add 40% or more to what you bid. Knowing them in advance is the difference between a good buy and an expensive lesson. The Copart fee calculator adds them up before you bid.
The buyer fee
This is the biggest fee on most lots. It rises in steps with the sale price. For clean-title vehicles paid by a secured method such as wire transfer, it runs from $25 on the cheapest lots to $900 on sales from $10,000 to $15,000, then becomes 7.5% of the price. Non-clean titles use a higher schedule. See Copart buyer fees by bid.
Bidding fees
Winning through Copart’s website or app adds a virtual bid fee, from $50 to $160 depending on price. Pre-bids placed before the live auction use a lower schedule. See the virtual bid fee guide.
Fixed yard fees
- Gate fee: usually $95, for moving the vehicle to the loading area.
- Environmental fee: around $15.
- Title mailing and other document fees in some cases.
What it adds up to
| Bid | Copart fees | Copart total |
|---|---|---|
| $500.00 | $380.00 | $880.00 |
| $1,000.00 | $570.00 | $1,570.00 |
| $2,500.00 | $830.00 | $3,330.00 |
| $5,000.00 | $1,010.00 | $6,010.00 |
| $8,000.00 | $1,120.00 | $9,120.00 |
| $12,000.00 | $1,170.00 | $13,170.00 |
On a $1,000 car, fees are about $570, more than half the bid. On a $12,000 car, they are just under 10%. Cheap lots carry the heaviest fee burden.
Fees you can avoid
- Late payment fees if you pay after the deadline.
