How Reverb charges sellers
Reverb has no listing fee. When an item sells, it charges a selling fee of 5% of the total sale, including shipping, with a minimum of $0.50 and a maximum of $500. On top of that is a payment processing fee of 3.19% plus $0.49 for US sales, which applies to the full amount including sales tax.
Bump is Reverb’s optional promotion tool. You choose a rate, and it is only charged on items that sell through a bumped placement.
Why the fee cap matters
The $500 cap on the selling fee means very expensive instruments carry a lower overall percentage. On a $15,000 vintage guitar the selling fee stops at $500, which is about 3.3% rather than 5%.
Shipping instruments
Guitars and amps are heavy and fragile, and the postage you pay can wipe out margin quickly. Enter your real shipping cost, including the box and packing, alongside what you charge the buyer. Reverb’s selling fee applies to shipping charges, so over-charging shipping to cover packing does not avoid fees.
