Etsy’s fees for US sellers

Etsy charges a mix of small fixed fees and percentages. The listing fee is $0.20 for each listing, renewed every four months or when an item sells. The transaction fee is 6.5% of the total order amount you set, which covers the item price, the shipping you charge and any gift wrapping.

When the buyer pays through Etsy Payments, the payment processing fee in the US is 3% plus $0.25 per order. This one is charged on the full amount the buyer pays, including sales tax.

Offsite Ads

Etsy advertises some listings on other websites. If a buyer clicks one of those ads and buys from your shop within 30 days, Etsy charges an Offsite Ads fee on that order. The rate is 15% for shops that have made less than $10,000 in the past year and 12% for shops above that level, when the program is mandatory. The fee is capped at $100 per order. You cannot tell in advance which orders will come from Offsite Ads, so it is worth running the numbers both ways.

What your result means

The calculator adds up these fees, subtracts them from what the buyer paid, then takes away your item cost and postage to show net profit. On a $35 item with $5 shipping, Etsy fees come to about $4.25, which is roughly 11% of the order. That jumps to about $10.25 when the sale is attributed to Offsite Ads.

Yes. When a listing with more than one item sells, Etsy automatically renews it and charges another $0.20.
