The rate
US shops using Etsy Payments pay 3% + $0.25 per order. The fee is charged once per order, so a buyer who purchases three items in one order triggers only one $0.25.
It includes sales tax
Etsy collects and remits sales tax for US orders, but the 3% processing fee applies to the full amount the buyer pays, including that tax. The transaction fee does not. Enter your typical buyer’s tax rate to include this.

At 8% sales tax the extra cost is small, about $0.02 for each $10 of order, but on high-volume shops it adds up.
Refunds
When you issue a full refund, Etsy returns the transaction fee proportionally, but the payment processing fee is generally not refunded. Keep that in mind when you set your returns policy.
Currency conversion
If your listings are in a different currency from your bank account, Etsy charges 2.5% to convert. Listing in US dollars with a US bank account avoids it.
Encourage bigger orders
Because $0.25 is charged per order, combined orders are cheaper to process. Offering a discount on two or more items, or a free shipping threshold, reduces the fixed fees you pay across your sales.
