Boosting can get your listings seen by far more buyers, but it more than triples Depop’s cut when a boosted item sells. The key is using it on the right items. Tick the boost box in the Depop fee calculator to compare.

How boosting works

You choose which listings to boost. Depop shows them to more buyers in search and feeds. You pay nothing up front. If a boosted listing sells, Depop charges 8% of the total transaction, including shipping, on top of the normal processing fee.

On a $30 item that cost $6 with $5 postage, a boost costs $2.40, cutting profit from about $17.56 to $15.16. On a $15 item the boost fee is small in dollars but still eats a noticeable share of a thin profit.

Items worth boosting

  • Pieces that have been listed for a while without much interest.
  • Seasonal items you want to move before the season ends.
  • Higher-priced items with a healthy margin, where 8% still leaves plenty.

Items to skip

  • Rare or in-demand pieces that sell quickly anyway.
  • Very cheap items where the margin is already thin.

Better listings first

Boosting amplifies a listing; it does not fix it. Good photos, accurate sizing and relevant hashtags and descriptions often do more than a boost.
