Open the Amazon US fee calculatorThe referral fee is the one Amazon charge every seller pays, no matter how they fulfil orders. The rate depends on category and, in some categories, on the price. Every rate below is available in the category menu of the Amazon seller fee calculator.
Flat-rate categories
Most categories pay 15% of the total price with a $0.30 minimum. That includes home and kitchen, toys, sports, tools and many others. Consumer electronics and computers pay 8%.
Categories with price bands
Some categories charge the whole price at a rate set by which band the price falls into:
- Clothing and accessories: 5% up to $15, 10% from $15 to $20, 17% above $20.
- Beauty and health: 8% up to $10, 15% above.
- Grocery: 8% up to $15, 15% above.
Others charge different rates on each portion of the price:
- Electronics accessories: 15% on the first $100, 8% above.
- Furniture: 15% on the first $200, 10% above.
- Jewelry: 20% on the first $250, 5% above.

Clothing at $40 pays 17%, while electronics pay 8%. Pricing a clothing item at $19.99 instead of $21 drops the rate from 17% to 10%.
Closing fees on media
Books, music, DVDs and video games add a $1.80 closing fee on top of the 15% referral fee. On a $10 book, that fixed fee alone is 18% of the price.
Rates change
