The rates
- In person (tap, dip, swipe, Tap to Pay on iPhone or Android): 2.6% + $0.15.
- Online (Square Online, payment links, online checkout): 2.9% + $0.30.
- Keyed in or card on file: 3.5% + $0.15.
- Invoices paid by card: 3.3% + $0.30.
- Invoices paid by ACH: 1%, with a $1 minimum.
- Afterpay: 6% + $0.30.

A $100 payment costs $2.75 in person but $3.65 when keyed in. Wherever possible, get the card in front of a reader.
Transfers
Standard transfers to your bank are free and usually arrive the next business day. Instant transfers cost 1.75% of the amount and arrive in minutes.
Paid plans and custom rates
Square’s paid plans add features, and some include lower processing rates for particular business types, such as restaurants. Businesses with high card volume can ask Square for custom pricing. Change the fee settings in the calculator to match your statement.
Refunds and chargebacks
Square does not return its processing fee on refunds. Square does not charge a separate chargeback fee, which is unusual among processors.
